NO LICENSE TO SIN

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin (embark on the activities of the devil) that grace may abound?”
                        Romans 6:1

Obviously no! The grace of God is not to promote sin. The fact that God’s grace is sufficient for us does not mean we should continue sinning that his grace may abound. As a new creature, you have been delivered from the system and the practice of the kingdom of darkness. When Christ died on the cross bearing the sins of the world, you and I also died with Him (Romans 6:8). That is why Romans 6:2 says we are dead to sin. A dead person has no sense of taste, smell, touch, sight and hearing. In other words, all his/her senses are inactive.

Just as a dead person cannot talk, walk, hear or do anything, in the same way, when the bible says you are dead to sin, it means you cannot sin. You can’t live any longer in sin. Your old nature of sin does not exist. The seed of sin does not have it place in you anymore. Listen, the scripture didn’t say you are dead to temptation but rather sin. That means you will have to continually battle temptation in order not to become a victim of it. The only time temptation will leave you is the time you have died naturally.

To be dead to sin also means you are no longer dominated by it. It is not imputed to you to condemnation and death. You are discharged from it; it cannot hurt you or exert its power over you. It is crucified, abolished and made an end of by Christ. It is no more your motivation in life, it’s no longer a pleasure to you.

You are not to live in it as you used to, because you aren’t the same person that you used to be.

I pray for grace as we continue to live here on earth to overcome temptation, which leads to sin.
